Augusto Jesús Hernández Lombardini

PhD student

Bio: I studied my BSc degree in Material and Nanotechnologies at Kaunas University of Technology. During my studies, I enjoyed an internshi at the Applied Optics and Photonic group of the Institute of Material Science of Kaunas, under the supervision of Dr Tomas Tamulevičius, getting my diploma in 2020.

Then, I completed the MSc in Physics and Technological Physics at the University of Zaragoza. In this period, I enjoyed a collaboration scholarship at the AML group with Dr. Carlos Sanchez Somolinos, graduating in 2021. In my master´s studies, I developed responsive materials based on liquid crystal elastomers (LCE) for soft robotic applications. This led to my enrolment in a Ph.D. program in 2022 as a member of the AML group. My research is based on LCE-responsive actuators and the use of big scientific facilities to understand mesogenic alignment.

Hobbies: I love cinema, sculpture painting, reading epic fantasy, and spending time with friends.

Research Interests: liquid crystal elastomers, soft robotics, synchrotron, x-ray scattering, FTIR.
