BIO:

Carlos Sánchez Somolinos (Zaragoza, Spain, 1974). Ph.D. in Physics (University of Zaragoza, Spain), Carlos holds a CSIC Scientific Researcher position (Investigador Científico del CSIC) at INMA where he leads the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory (AML). His expertise and scientific objectives are focused on the development of polymers and their processing through advanced manufacturing techniques in the search for polymeric surfaces or functional systems of interest in the fields of optics, biomedicine and soft robotics. Carlos is co-author of about 90 scientific publications and co-inventor of nearly 20 patents, many of them developed in close collaboration with industry. He is the coordinator of the PRIME FET-OPEN H2020 project, dedicated to the development of a platform of materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to create active and easy-to-operate microfluidic devices (ID: 829010) He also coordinates the ITN STORM-BOTS (2021-2025) MSCA-ITN-2020 (ID.: 956150) on soft robotics. In 2017 he was awarded the Prize of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Zaragoza (Physics Section).
