Paolo Sartori

PhD student

Bio: I obtained both my BCs degree in Biomedical Engineering, in 2017, and my MSc in Bio-nanotechnologies, in 2020, from Polytechnic University of Turin. During my master’s degree I worked, both in Polytechnic University of Turin and in Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg to develop an electrospun composite polymeric material containing boron and copper doped bio-glass nanoparticles for bone regeneration purposes.

I joined the AML group in September 2021 as a PhD student part of the Marie Sklodowska Curie European Training Network STORM-BOTS program, since then I am working on the synthesis and characterization of new 4D printable LCE and the creation of biomimetic systems able to react, also underwater, to various stimuli, principally heat and light. As part of my PhD project, I will also try to integrate and study the possibility of biomedical use for the developed systems.

Hobbies: During my free time I like to go to the gym, climb and experiment new recipes in the kitchen for me and my friends.

Research Interests: Liquid crystal elastomers, biomaterials, biomimetic systems, BioMEMS
